The modern choice for gamers Ryzen 7

Sort:
View:

AMD Ryzen 7 gaming PCs at PowerUp are built on five processors: 7700, 8700F, 9700X, 7800X3D, and 9800X3D. All of them feature 8 cores and 16 threads, an AM5 socket, and DDR5 memory. They differ in cache size, architecture (Zen 4 or Zen 5), and gaming performance headroom. For Full HD and 2K with a graphics card up to RTX 5070, the 7700 or 8700F is sufficient; for high FPS and RTX 5070 Ti / RTX 5080, it is better to choose a model with 3D V-Cache. Builds on other processors, including Intel, can be found in the general gaming PCs catalog.

Ryzen 7 processors in our builds: comparison

Processor Architecture Max. frequency L3 Cache TDP PCIe Best for
Ryzen 7 8700F Zen 4 5.0 GHz 16 MB 65 W 4.0 Affordable entry to AM5, Full HD
Ryzen 7 7700 Zen 4 5.3 GHz 32 MB 65 W 5.0 Versatile choice for Full HD and 2K
Ryzen 7 9700X Zen 5 5.5 GHz 32 MB 65 W 5.0 Gaming plus editing, rendering, programming
Ryzen 7 7800X3D Zen 4 5.0 GHz 96 MB 120 W 5.0 High FPS, esports, simulators
Ryzen 7 9800X3D Zen 5 5.2 GHz 96 MB 120 W 5.0 Top-tier builds with RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080

How to choose a processor for your needs

  • Full HD and limited budget — 8700F. Due to its 16 MB cache and PCIe 4.0, it slightly trails the 7700 in CPU-bound games, but fully unlocks graphics cards like the RTX 5050–5060 Ti.
  • 2K and versatility — 7700: double the cache, PCIe 5.0, and built-in Radeon graphics as a backup display output.
  • Gaming and work — 9700X. The Zen 5 architecture provides a performance boost in DaVinci Resolve, Blender, code compilation, and other multi-threaded tasks.
  • Maximum FPS — 7800X3D or 9800X3D. 96 MB of 3D V-Cache increases average and 1% low FPS in CS2, Valorant, MMOs, strategy games, and sim racing. We explain why this happens in our article about 3D cache for gaming.

Which graphics card is right for you

Resolution Graphics card Optimal processor
Full HD (1920×1080) RTX 5050, RTX 5060 8700F, 7700
2K (2560×1440) RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5070, Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB 7700, 9700X, 7800X3D
2K 165+ Hz and 4K RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, Radeon RX 9070 XT 7800X3D, 9800X3D

For 2K, it is better to choose graphics cards with 16 GB of memory: 8 GB is no longer enough for ultra textures in some new AAA games. The RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti connect via 8 PCIe lanes, so pairing them with the 8700F (PCIe 4.0) may result in a slight performance loss. It is most noticeable in the 8 GB versions when VRAM runs out.

What is included in a PowerUp build

  • Memory — 32 GB of DDR5 in dual-channel mode, 64 GB in top configurations.
  • Storage — 1 TB or 2 TB NVMe SSD.
  • Motherboard — AM5 on A620 or B650 chipset. B650 has more M.2 slots and ports, and also supports CPU overclocking.
  • Cooling — tower cooler or 240–360 mm AIO liquid cooling.
  • Testing and warranty — 4-hour stress test before shipping, 24-month warranty, delivery across Ukraine in 1–2 days.

If you need a different graphics card, a larger SSD, or quieter cooling, we will assemble a custom configuration for your needs. Installment payments are available. Frequently Asked Questions

Which Ryzen 7 is best for gaming?

Ryzen 7 9800X3D: 96 MB of 3D V-Cache and Zen 5 architecture provide the highest FPS in the lineup. The 7800X3D is only slightly behind. If you play in 2K or 4K with a graphics card up to an RTX 5070, the difference between the X3D models and the 7700 is negligible, as the main load falls on the graphics card.

How does the Ryzen 7 8700F differ from the 7700?

Both processors have 8 Zen 4 cores and a 65 W TDP. The 8700F has half the L3 cache (16 MB vs. 32 MB), PCIe 4.0 instead of 5.0, and no integrated graphics. In CPU-bound games, the 7700 is faster, but with an RTX 5050–5060 Ti, the difference is minimal.

What cooling is needed for a Ryzen 7?

A tower cooler is sufficient for the 7700, 8700F, and 9700X with a 65 W TDP. For the 7800X3D and 9800X3D (120 W), it is better to use a powerful tower cooler or a 240–360 mm AIO liquid cooler, especially in a compact case.

Will it be possible to upgrade the processor without changing the motherboard?

Yes. The AM5 socket supports Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series, and AMD guarantees platform support until at least 2027. To upgrade, simply install the new processor and update the BIOS.

What is better for gaming: AMD Ryzen 7 or Intel Core Ultra 7?

The 3D V-Cache models, 7800X3D and 9800X3D, are ahead in gaming. The Core Ultra 7 265K and 270K Plus have more cores thanks to energy-efficient E-cores and are stronger in multi-threaded workloads. For a pure gaming PC, Ryzen with X3D is more commonly chosen; for gaming combined with heavy working tasks, either of the two platforms is a great choice.
